The big question at the heart of the matter is

How did the egg evolve over billions of years? Step by step the egg or the seed (depending on what species we are talking about) gets this ability to differentiate into more complex cells. I’m not sure how it gets this.  From single cell replication to bug eggs to fish eggs to  . . . you name it. How did this egg change? Within one biological line, according to evolution, somehow this happens. And amazing we start with an egg that has less it can do and end with one that can do so much more. What gives? Now I can see how a species might have gradually changed just by looking at the animals around us. But the big mystery is . . . how did this happen at the cell level? What happened to these eggs?
